Our take
If you want to make images offline and keep everything on your own machine, Qwen-Image-2.1 is the best scoring choice we can find. It's rank 19 of 82 on arena.ai, above every other downloadable model s1.
Two catches. The Qwen Research License allows research and evaluation only, so it's not for client or product work without a separate deal s6. And it's well behind the hosted leaders; Nano Banana 2.1 is far higher and free to try in the Gemini app, if a cloud service is fine for you s1.
